NYGH SCOPE 

Mental Health 

NYGH SCOPE Mental Health provides rapid contact for patients in need of mental health support and assists in the co-management of these patients.
 

The current focus of this pathway is to provide support to primary care providers (PCPs) and their patients through resource navigation and physician-to-physician consultation. 

The team continues to develop this service to best meet your needs and is comprised of one Mental Health Clinician, Shivon Yim MSW RSW and our Consulting Psychiatrist, Dr. Margittai.


Services offered:
Resource navigation

Telephone Advice Psychiatry (TAP)

  • Consult a psychiatrist, MD-to-MD, for support with clinical cases directly, without a patient visit. 

  • **Please note that this service is only available to support PCPs with adult cases.
     

How to access NYGH SCOPE Mental Health

Call, email, fax or submit an eReferral via Ocean to our mental health clinician and they will connect with you to discuss the patient background.
 

Managing patient expectations is incredibly important. Please do not promise any particular service components. We suggest the following messaging to patients: 
 

"I am working with the SCOPE Mental Health program, a new service that an assist me in treating or navigating you to the most appropriate service(s) in the community. SCOPE Mental Health will work with me to help you get the care you need."

Ontario Structured Psychotherapy

(OSP)

What is OSP?

  • Publicly-funded program for patients with mild to severe depression, anxiety or other anxiety-related concerns (i.e. OCD or trauma).

  • ​Access is centralized, evidence-based, with fast access and minimal wait times.​

  • Family doctors, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists or other healthcare professionals can refer patients and clients may also self-refer if they live in York Region, South Simcoe, North York, North Etobicoke and Malton.

How can it be accessed?

The program can be accessed through CMHA York & Simcoe online self-referral form or provider-initiation via OCEAN (in the health map, search for Ontario Structured Psychotherapy - CMHA NLO). For the application in French, click here.

OSP also has a teen program for 15 to 17-year-olds available via self-referral from the BounceBack website here: https://bouncebackontario.ca/teens/

Telephone Advice Psychiatry 

(TAP)

Speak to a North York General Hospital (NYGH) psychiatrist by phone within days of request. ​

You can ask questions about a clinical case directly with psychiatrist without patient visit.​

You can choose ‘TAP’ on the NYGH Ambulatory Mental Health referral through OCEAN or call TAP intake at 416-756-6642​

TAP is now available via SCOPE.​
